following the sun

Adventures on the Italian Riviera continue. This time upwards. The sun was shining and we decided to follow it, all the way from Monterosso to Levanto, the neighboring village. A two-hour hike high above the calm of the sea and into the wild of the woods. Ready. Set. Go! A long way up…

Finally we arrived to the top. A moment of awe.

A slight detour into the remains of a historic church.

The journey continued into the woods…

Until we reached the other side, met by the setting sun.

Over two hours and many awes later, Levanto at dusk.

Now it was time to follow the moon.

Those photos are so transporting. NYC is wrapped in grey today. What I wouldn’t give for some fresh Mediterranean air!

Can you imagine the people who walked around there hundreds of years ago? People who lived in that area and met in that church? To them everything around them was permanent, the roads, the church… People probably looked out of what’s left of those windows and thought about things like dinner and the weather. It’s nice to be able to walk around remembering that things came before you. Lovely pictures.

This reminds me of a great day I have also spent recently in the middle of ruins. Wonderful pictures. I love how you captured the light.
