four years!

IMG_8631

Today marks four years in Paris. Hard to believe how quickly time passes, does it ever slow down? Not to labor on all the sentiments, hardships, and celebrations of the last 4 years (though certainly I could), I will simply say that it’s taken this long to feel that Paris is truly my home. Whenever I return to NYC, I embrace the city and it’s chaos, but it is Paris that I long to return to. The calm and culture. And in both cities, I cherish the people. Life is much about the people we share it with, and those that are truly dear, will forever be. Regardless of where life takes us.

Fittingly, today I took part in a project all about New York in Paris, very proudly of course! More on that later. In celebration of this exciting endeavor and my Paris Anniversary I am giving away a bag! Simply leave a comment with your favorite French word or phrase (who knows, it could appear in my new Paris bag collection) and the bag you’d like to win, from any of the collections: kasiadietz.com

Winner will be selected randomly & announced August 27th! Bonne Chance!

    Coucou!

When I hear those words on the phone, or in an email, I know I’m in touch with my relatives in France…it never ceases to make my day!

  11. Lil August 20, 2013

Incroyable! I’m not sure why but I love this word. (Another couple that I may have used a bit too often are papoter and blablatage.)

The flloral tote is truly chic 😉

  14. nikki August 20, 2013

Congratulations on 4 years! That’s exciting! I have been following you for at least 3 of those 🙂
My favorite French word is “flâneur”. In fact, I started my blog after discovering the meaning of the word. (http://nikkiinreallife.com/about-2)
    If I won, I would love to have a Rive Gauche bag – it’s where I first flâneur-ed 🙂

  15. Liza in Ann Arbor August 21, 2013

My favorite word (or phrase) is L’Italie or D’Italie as in “Je viens d’Italie”. I’m not here to enter, because I already won a bag last year, but to say how much I love it! Congrats on 4 years!

  16. Jennyphoria August 21, 2013

My favorite French word is Cocorico, which is the word for the sound a rooster makes. I think it’s incredibly fun to say and it has become a nickname for my beloved pup.

    I love the Downtown bag.
    And happy anniversary!!!

    Bisous

  17. MinaLiriel August 21, 2013

My favourite french phrase is: Je tiens à toi.

After my – till now french boyfriend – wrote me this in a texto I had to google it 😀

My favourite bag is rive gauche bag, because I lived there and will live there again 🙂

    Bisou Bisou
    Mina

  18. Patty August 22, 2013

My favorite phrase is: la vie en rose – for the sentiment and the song!

I’ve been coveting the Rive Gauche bag, so I’d love it if I won!

    Merci – Patty

  19. Riani Pesik August 22, 2013

My fav French thing must be ‘Tu me manque’
It is my all time fav. How they put it ‘You are the missing part (like in body part hehe) of me’ is so much better than ‘I miss you’ 😀

  20. Erica August 23, 2013

So many great phrases and words . . .
je suis repus (for being full) . . .
    redhibitoire

    And any bag!

  21. Lisa August 24, 2013

First of all, congratulations on your anniversary!

My favorite French word is “pantoufles.” It sounds just like what slippers should be – warm, fuzzy, homey and comfy! My favorite phrase is sort of the polar opposite of pantouffles – “Qui ne risque rien, n’a rien.” My grandmother always used to say this to me and my sister and I think it is good to keep in mind when contemplating getting out of your comfort zone and doing something scary. Every now and then you just have to kick off those pantouffles, leave the house and engage!

I don’t know if you have a postal code bag for 75011 but that would be my top choice. Otherwise I would love a Rive Droite bag. So clever! Congrats again on your four years in Paris and on your gorgeous and creative work. Keep it up!

  22. helene August 25, 2013

Congrats for your 4 years and wonderful bags Kasia. It’s quite difficult to pick one, you’re so talented to find the best fabrics. Love the Spotlight bag and the flower tote most of all.

Favorite French words would be : JOIE et BONHEUR

  23. Mirjana August 25, 2013

    My favourite: voilà

  24. Mirjana August 25, 2013

    My favorite: voilà

  25. Mita August 25, 2013

    Congratulations Kasia!
    Bisous, C’est Bon, Bonjour
    Like the rive droite bag
    Merci

  26. Lema Mansoury August 25, 2013

Congratulations on 4 years! That’s fantastic.

I’ve been to Paris 4 times in my life and it’s absolutely my favorite place in the world. I stay with my aunt and she said to me once, while we were having a conversation about coffee, “Café américain goûte comme une chaussette sale.” Which I believe means American coffee tastes like a dirty sock. I live in VA, USA so I know exactly what she means. Coffee simply tastes better in Europe.

Another phrase I like is, “C’est la vie”. I was walking around the Eiffel Tower once and this drunk girl came up to me and screamed it in my face which I found amusing. I’ve always envied the way the French lives their lives, it’s very nice and relaxing at times.

I follow you on instagram and I’ve seen what your bags look like. I love it when people come together in a shop and create their own bags together.
My choice of bag would be the “Rive Gauche” bag, just because my aunt lives on that side.

  27. BonjourHilary August 25, 2013

    Bonjour, naturellement!

  28. bbonthebrink August 25, 2013

Funambule! I love this word, it sounds so poetic and light…unlike the English… ‘tightrope walker.’
    Congratulations on your 4 years!
    BB

  29. Anne August 25, 2013

Kasia, congratulations on your 4 years in Paris! May there be many more 🙂
My favorite word in French is “merci” and my favorite bag of yours is the NYNY.

  30. Katia August 25, 2013

    What a fabulous milestone, Kasia!
My favourite word has to be “une libellule” (a dragonfly) – it just rolls off the tongue in such an exquisite way!
And it’s so hard to choose a favourite phrase! I’ll choose two “au pif”: “sauter du coq à l’âne” (to jump from one subject to another) and “être une poule de luxe” (to be a gold digger OR to have expensive tastes). I love using both of them whenever I can, especially the second one, as it’s super cheeky 😉
(and I’ve loved the Provence “flowers” tote ever since I laid eyes on it!)

  31. Emma August 25, 2013

Félicitations pour ces quatre ans à Paris!

Love the handbag line of yours, my favourites must be POP ART Untitled Bag and the NATURA Terra Bag! 🙂

Do you have a store in Paris? I live here, so I would love to check it out sometime!
For the fav French word…that’s a tough one, but I’ll go with the Élégance – it totally comes in mind when I go through your handbag line!

    • Kasia August 29, 2013

Hello Emma! I’m selling certain bags in the boutique OUT: 9, rue Tiquetonne – 75002, otherwise you can order directly from me 🙂

  32. Lou August 26, 2013

Salut ! Happy anniversary : ) I have been in Paris myself for the same length of time. I agreed very much with you about how life is linked to the people we share it with. I would be happy with my boyfriend anywhere in the world! “Que sera sera” – it sums up my current frame of mind, that you have to let some things be because whatever will be, will be. Also, i dance to this song in a pantomime when i was about 6 or 7 years old and had a blast! xx

  33. Melissa August 26, 2013

I’m such a fan of your beautiful handbags and of course you’re Instagram feed! I love to hear French people say, “Bien sur” It’s not that it’s such a lovely phrase but it sure sounds nicer than “yeah” in english 🙂 I love the Colors tote & purse AND the French Blue Bag.
    xM

  34. Meg August 26, 2013

Congratulations Kasia!! Keep up the fabulous work!
I find myself using “cest fou” a lot!
As for your bags, hard as it is to choose, I love the City Bag!

  35. Jen Gonroff August 27, 2013

While unfortunate for my waistline, my favorite french word (and favorite sweet while I was in Paris) is the macaron. Given how tied the Parisian culture is to food, a macaron, baguette, or croissant tote would be cute. I love all of your bags, but my favorites are your Flowers and NYNY totes.

    Congratulations on 4 years!
